AI leadership is built on trust.
The Digital Trust Council builds the global benchmarks for trustworthy AI, translating research into accountability standards the world can rely on.
Our Approach
Built for the people using AI, not the people selling it.
The Trust Index and DTC's LEED-style certification framework are shaped from the ground up: by the practitioners, policymakers, and everyday users who rely on AI systems, not by the companies that build them. That grassroots foundation is what keeps DTC's standards independent and credible.
Who We Are
An independent nonprofit, built by people who study trust for a living.
The Digital Trust Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by a team of researchers, technologists, and operators, and guided by an advisory board spanning industry, academia, and civil society. Independence is our founding constraint: no company, government, or institution directs our research or certification outcomes.

Trust Index
A trust label for AI.
The Trust Index aggregates scattered AI evaluations into one sourced, comparable view. It is built for the people who must decide whether to deploy or buy an AI system and defend that decision to a boss, a board, or a regulator. It provides no single, gameable score, only tiered, evidence-linked signals across the categories that matter.

Closing the Trust Gap
A decade of responsible AI practice has not produced a market that rewards trustworthiness. Our new paper argues that closing this gap requires independent, outcome-oriented certification: evidence the public can inspect, modeled on what LEED established for buildings and SOC 2 established for security.
